Great meeting today with Shawn Sobers of Fairfield House and Pauline Wallace, Coordinator of BEMSCA (Bath Ethnic Minority & Senior Citizen’s Association). They’ve agreed not only to collaborate in creating a Peace Ceremony on The International Day of Peace in two week’s time, but to make it an annual event. Yippee!

Fairfield House in Newbridge, Bath, was the residence of His Imperial majesty, Haile Selassie 1, Emperor of Ethiopia, during the five years he spent in exile (1936–41). Following his return to Ethiopia, he donated it to the city of Bath in 1958 as a residence for the aged.

I have lived in Bath for over 12 years and was unaware of the Caribbean community or Fairfield House until a series of recent synchronicities which included seeing Shawn’s film ‘Footsteps of The Emperor’ at The Little Cinema, Bath.
