Hello Sweden!

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

A fortuitous meeting in London last week, with a dynamic Swedish woman, Maria Baczynski, who was over here to give a singing workshop, led to a lengthy inspirational exchange today. Maria has kindly offered to introduce The Global Circle of Peace to Sweden through her network, especially to her media and choir contacts. There are over 800,00 people who sing in choirs in Sweden so this is fertile ground to get our message out there in a really grounded way. We are talking about my going  over to Stockholm early next year to give a presentation and possibly a CANDALA or mime-poem workshop. Watch this space!

Thank you so much Maria for your generosity of spirit and heart. This feels like the beginning of a wonderful friendship and creative adventure.

Maria Baczynski is the founder of the company Voiceinvestor. She is a mezzosoprano and well known performer as well as a voice and singing teacher She gives presentations, seminars and custom-made courses in Sweden and abroad. www.voiceinvestor.com

Enduring Memories & Global Outreach

The feedback that we have received is that The 2010 Bath Peace Ceremony left an indelible impression on many people. We are delighted that this was the case and hope to bring you all with us for next year’s event as we grow this tradition and build bridges within our local  community.

Having created the blueprint for The Global Circle of Peace Ceremony here in Bath,  this next year is about inspiring a new level of  global participation in our Peace Ceremony in 2011.

We are particularly interested in talking to school and  community choirs locally and in different parts of the world about singing the 4 lines of our  core message and artists, groups or communities who want to build a CANDALA of Peace.  We  will be focusing on these two areas in the next stage of our development whilst also researching the viability of enrolling in people learning the mime-poem. ‘Time for Peace on Earth’ and sending out this message to the world

Hello South Africa!

Great friend, Fiona Almeleh reports from Capetown on how they jointly celebrated The International Day of Peace.

Lighting the CANDALA

“We all joined hearts with you and the rest of the world last night and your vision is now again included in Capetown’s, through the creation and lighting of the Peace Candala – we are part of each other through our shared vision for a world of Peace. My dear friend Chatelaine helped me to create the CANDALA and we made it from the freshly picked foliage and flowers of our two gardens, still fragrant and exquisite, radiating the miracle of God’s love.”

Inspiration for the CANDALA of Peace – as described in the programme

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Necessity is The Mother of Invention! The idea to use bread inscribed with the word PAX as a key ingredient was born out of material constraints and a heartfelt cry for inspiration. A symbolic foodstuff international in scope, bread is the quintessential human food and a part of everyday life. It connects us to people, to culture, to tradition, to our spiritual beliefs and sometimes to religion. ‘PAX’ Latin for Peace, is widely understood as a universal message of goodwill.

‘PAX Bread’ links the reality of world peace to the ending of world hunger. It reminds us that if humanity is to thrive that we need food for our soul. It also draws attention to the significance and power of the word. By being placed on the ground, it reinforces the message of ‘Peace on Earth’.

Candlelight and recycled tealights form a beautiful pattern of light. The glass vase in the centre of The Circle can be seen as a symbolic vessel holding the waters of life. Filled with healing waters form Bath’s sacred spring, it acts as a thanksgiving for the abundant gifts of Mother Nature.

Highlighting the four cardinal points of a Circle has many different symbolic interpretations according to our lens of perception and cultural background. May it remind us all to be willing to stand in a new place and consider new perspectives. The intention of the CANDALA of Peace is to inspire a sense of communion with The Source, each other and our environment.

Happy International Day of Peace Everyone

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Today is the day when the world comes together to celebrate peace – a day of global ceasefire and non-violence designated by the UN. As we gather tonight in Parade Gardens in The World Heritage City of Bath, we will be linking with our brothers and sisters around the world as one global family.

Setting up in the morning

I received a wonderful greeting from Fional Almeleh in Capetown this morning saying that she and a friend were going to build a CANDALA of Peace as a part of the  Peace Ceremony in their community.  Can’t wait to see their creative juices at work! Fiona is a brilliant artist so I know we are in for a treat.

What an unexpected inspiration for the CANDALA of Peace!

At a meeting in London this morning with Alan to talk about strategy and how we can reduce the budget for The  Bath Peace Ceremony, I boldly announce that, “If necessary I will make the CANDALA out of ……. Bread! This was inspired by a pile of loaves in the café window and by the fact that there was no money in the kitty to pay for  materials.  That evening, having returned to Bath, inspiration struck again with the idea to inscribe the word PAX – Latin for Peace -on each loaf and link the concept of creating world peace to ending world hunger.

The Spring CANDALA by Oliver Perceval

Oliver Perceval from London, UK, has sent in details of his stunning Spring CANDALA and an amusing message. Is there no end to his ingenious creativity?

“Hot off the press, burning in fact, most dangerous CANDALA yet!  One by one the chicks set alight, so after about 18 I decided I had to blow out the outer ring! Hope you like the spring blossom cheer.”

He has also gratiously allowed us to use pictures of his wonderful CANDALAS on our website. Thank you Oli!

Organic CANDALA of Peace by Fiona Almeleh and Berto Voight

Fiona Almeleh from Capetown, South Africa, has sent in details of the Organic CANDALA of Peace she created with her friends.

“Just connecting while everything is still fresh in our experience of yesterday! It was such a beautiful launch (of The Ascension Times Newspaper) and we had a very special time creating the CANDALA.  My friend Berto Voight and myself brought all the materials and in a space of peace and collaboration allowed the piece to create itself! Seeds, pulses, rice, water, candles, crystals, symbols, flowers and greenery. We used frankincense all over the base as well as a little for ourselves. The atmosphere around us was like crystal clear mountain air.

I opened the launch and spoke about the project lovingly,  consciously creating a connection with you and all the others who were participating. I then invited our wonderful friend Anthea Torr, whose newspaper it is, to light the central candle with a blessing followed by two minutes silence. So special!!

So Lizzie, a part of you and your vision is now anchored energetically at the tip of Africa.”
